āMendicants, suppose the water in the ocean dried up and evaporated except for two or three drops. āSeyyathÄpi, bhikkhave, mahÄsamudde udakaį¹ parikkhayaį¹ pariyÄdÄnaį¹ gaccheyya į¹hapetvÄ dve vÄ tÄ«į¹i vÄ udakaphusitÄni.
What do you think, mendicants? Taį¹ kiį¹ maƱƱatha, bhikkhave, Which is more: the water in the ocean that has dried up and evaporated, or the two or three drops left?ā katamaį¹ nu kho bahutaraį¹āyaį¹ vÄ mahÄsamudde udakaį¹ parikkhÄ«į¹aį¹ pariyÄdinnaį¹, yÄni dve vÄ tÄ«į¹i vÄ udakaphusitÄni avasiį¹į¹hÄnÄ«āti?
āSir, the water in the ocean that has dried up and evaporated is certainly more. The two or three drops left are tiny. āEtadeva, bhante, bahutaraį¹ mahÄsamudde udakaį¹ yadidaį¹ parikkhÄ«į¹aį¹ pariyÄdinnaį¹; appamattakÄni dve vÄ tÄ«į¹i vÄ udakaphusitÄni avasiį¹į¹hÄni. Compared to the water in the ocean that has dried up and evaporated, it doesnāt count, thereās no comparison, itās not worth a fraction.ā Saį¹ khampi na upenti, upanidhampi na upenti, kalabhÄgampi na upenti mahÄsamudde udakaį¹ parikkhÄ«į¹aį¹ pariyÄdinnaį¹ upanidhÄya dve vÄ tÄ«į¹i vÄ udakaphusitÄni avasiį¹į¹hÄnÄ«āti.
