Should Be Completely Understood Pariññeyyasutta
At Sāvatthī. Sāvatthinidānaṁ.
“Mendicants, I will teach you the things that should be completely understood, complete understanding, and the individual who has completely understood. “Pariññeyye ca, bhikkhave, dhamme desessāmi pariññañca pariññātāviñca puggalaṁ. Listen … Taṁ suṇātha.
And what things should be completely understood? Katame ca, bhikkhave, pariññeyyā dhammā? Form, Rūpaṁ, bhikkhave, pariññeyyo dhammo. feeling, Vedanā …pe… perception, saññā … choices, saṅkhārā … and consciousness. viññāṇaṁ pariññeyyo dhammo. These are called the things that should be completely understood. Ime vuccanti, bhikkhave, pariññeyyā dhammā.
And what is complete understanding? Katamā ca, bhikkhave, pariññā? The ending of greed, hate, and delusion. Rāgakkhayo, dosakkhayo, mohakkhayo—This is called complete understanding. ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, pariññā.
And who is the individual who has completely understood? Katamo ca, bhikkhave, pariññātāvī puggalo? It should be said: a perfected one, Arahātissa vacanīyaṁ. the venerable of such and such name and clan. Yvāyaṁ āyasmā evaṁnāmo evaṅgotto—This is called the individual who has completely understood.” ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, pariññātāvī puggalo”ti.
