Vaḍḍha Vaḍḍhattheragāthā
Oh so well was the goad “Sādhū hi kira me mātā, shown to me by my mother, Patodaṁ upadaṁsayi; on hearing whose words, Yassāhaṁ vacanaṁ sutvā, advised by my mother, Anusiṭṭho janettiyā; energetic and resolute, Āraddhavīriyo pahitatto, I realized supreme awakening. Patto sambodhimuttamaṁ.
I’m perfected, worthy of offerings, Arahā dakkhiṇeyyomhi, master of the three knowledges,
seer of freedom from death.
tevijjo amataddaso; I’ve conquered the army of Namuci, Jetvā namucino senaṁ, and live without defilements. viharāmi anāsavo.Those defilements that were found in me, Ajjhattañca bahiddhā ca, internally and externally, ye me vijjiṁsu āsavā; are all cut off without remainder, Sabbe asesā ucchinnā, and will not arise again. na ca uppajjare puna.
My self-assured sister Visāradā kho bhaginī, said this to me: etamatthaṁ abhāsayi; ‘Now neither you nor I ‘Apihā nūna mayipi, have any snarls.’ vanatho te na vijjati’.
Suffering is at an end; Pariyantakataṁ dukkhaṁ, this bag of bones is my last antimoyaṁ samussayo; in the transmigration through births and deaths; Jātimaraṇasaṁsāro, now there’ll be no more future lives.” natthi dāni punabbhavo”ti.
