- The Legends of the Theras
554. Kimbila
When Kakusandha passed away,
the Brahmin, the Perfected One,
gathering salala flowers,
I constructed a pavilion.
Having gone to TÄvatiį¹sa,
I received a supreme mansion.
I surpassed all the other gods:
that is the fruit of good karma.
Whether itās the day or the night,
walking back and forth or standing,
Iām covered with salala blooms:
that is the fruit of good karma.
Within just this present aeon
since I thus worshipped the Buddha,
Iāve come to know no bad rebirth:
thatās the fruit of Buddha-pÅ«jÄ.
My defilements are now burnt up;
all new existence is destroyed.
Like elephants with broken chains,
I am living without constraint.
Being in Best Buddhaās presence
was a very good thing for me.
The three knowledges are attained;
I have done what the Buddha taught!
The four analytical modes,
and these eight deliverances,
six special knowledges mastered,
I have done what the Buddha taught!
Thus indeed Venerable Kimbila Thera spoke these verses.
