A Tree (1st) Paį¹­hamarukkhasutta

ā€œMendicants, of all the trees in the Black Plum Tree Land, the black plum is said to be the best. ā€œSeyyathāpi, bhikkhave, ye keci jambudÄ«pakā rukkhā, jambÅ« tesaṁ aggamakkhāyati; In the same way, the faculty of wisdom is said to be the best of the qualities on the side of awakening; that is, for becoming awakened. evameva kho, bhikkhave, ye keci bodhipakkhiyā dhammā, paƱƱindriyaṁ tesaṁ aggamakkhāyati, yadidaṁ—bodhāya. And what are the qualities on the side of awakening? Katame ca, bhikkhave, bodhipakkhiyā dhammā? The faculties of faith, Saddhindriyaṁ, bhikkhave, bodhipakkhiyo dhammo, taṁ bodhāya saṁvattati. energy, VÄ«riyindriyaṁ …pe… mindfulness, satindriyaṁ … immersion, samādhindriyaṁ … and wisdom are qualities on the side of awakening, in that they lead to becoming awakened. paƱƱindriyaṁ bodhipakkhiyo dhammo, taṁ bodhāya saṁvattati.
