Stinginess (2nd) Dutiyamacchariyasutta

ā€œMendicants, a resident mendicant with five qualities is placed in hell as if delivered there. ā€œPaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato āvāsiko bhikkhu yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye. What five? Katamehi paƱcahi? They’re stingy regarding monasteries, ĀvāsamaccharÄ« hoti; families, kulamaccharÄ« hoti; material things, lābhamaccharÄ« hoti; praise, vaṇṇamaccharÄ« hoti; and the teachings. dhammamaccharÄ« hoti. A resident mendicant with these five qualities is placed in hell as if delivered there. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi dhammehi samannāgato āvāsiko bhikkhu yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye.

A resident mendicant with five qualities is placed in heaven as if delivered there. PaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato āvāsiko bhikkhu yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ sagge. What five? Katamehi paƱcahi? They’re not stingy regarding monasteries, Na āvāsamaccharÄ« hoti; families, na kulamaccharÄ« hoti; material things, na lābhamaccharÄ« hoti; praise, na vaṇṇamaccharÄ« hoti; and the teachings. na dhammamaccharÄ« hoti. A resident mendicant with these five qualities is placed in heaven as if delivered there.ā€ Imehi kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi dhammehi samannāgato āvāsiko bhikkhu yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ saggeā€ti.
