Companions SahÄyakasutta
At SÄvatthÄ«. SÄvatthiyaį¹ viharati.
Then two mendicants who were companions, protĆ©gĆ©s of Venerable MahÄkappina, went to see the Buddha. Atha kho dve bhikkhÅ« sahÄyakÄ Äyasmato mahÄkappinassa saddhivihÄrino yena bhagavÄ tenupasaį¹ kamiį¹su.
The Buddha saw them coming off in the distance, AddasÄ kho bhagavÄ te bhikkhÅ« dÅ«ratova Ägacchante. and addressed the mendicants: DisvÄna bhikkhÅ« Ämantesi: āMendicants, do you see those monks coming who are companions, protĆ©gĆ©s of Venerable MahÄkappina?ā āpassatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, ete bhikkhÅ« sahÄyake Ägacchante kappinassa saddhivihÄrinoāti?
āYes, sir.ā āEvaį¹, bhanteā.
āThose mendicants are very mighty and powerful. āEte kho te bhikkhÅ« mahiddhikÄ mahÄnubhÄvÄ. Itās not easy to find an attainment that they have not already attained. Na ca sÄ samÄpatti sulabharÅ«pÄ, yÄ tehi bhikkhÅ«hi asamÄpannapubbÄ. And theyāve realized the supreme end of the spiritual path in this very life.
